View Full Version : A good name for a foo foo dog

No contest here and no luggage! But I am taking a plunge and buying a foo foo dog for my kids for Christmas (a Shih-Tsu).

He is male and being that he is so foo foo-ish, he needs a really good macho name. Anyone have any suggestions. Could be a foreign name or word that either is or sounds macho too.

The suggestions I have so far (that I am not terribly thrilled with) are:
Brutus
Bruno
Jack
Atilla (not bad)
Gengis Khan (very appropriate geographically)

Can the Tripso clan help me out?

Here is a picture of the little guy:[attachmentid=72]

You're not going to let the kids name him?

What about Chariman Mao?

We have a mini-daschund so we gave him a normal male name but one that was not too silly. His name is Malcolm. We considered naming him Schnitzel (as in wienerschnitzel...ha ha) but my husband drew the line on that one.

OK you guys are doing good. No I can't let the kids name him---it will be a WWF smack down fight!

Man, I'm not good with doggie names at 10:30PM or so, but here goes:

Bubba (This is the name of my own beloved doggie)
Morris
Murray
Murphy
Eddie
Joe
Mick
Pip (short for "Pipsqueak")

If I think of more when I'm more awake and more lucid, I'll add on. Have fun!

(And way to go, John! I've been fortunate enough to have made the acquaintance of a few Shih Tzus over the years. They're wonderful, sweet dogs who love their people dearly.)

Chun King?

We had Chihuahuas when I was a kid (and still today). Named one boy Duque (my spanish for Duke). Always thought it would be fun to yell "Duque, come" and everybody would be expecting a big German Shepherd and along comes this 7 lb cute dog. Even got him a spiked collar.

But for your dog, I like Oso.

I have an adorable boy kitty and named him Simon Dageus. How's that for manly? How about Oliver, Harry, Aidan, or Zeus?

Really like Mary's suggestion of Spike! I had an English Bulldog several years ago who I named Bacchus...god of wine and parties. Love that name, too.

Need help with your Spanish class, just ask, I'm mexican.

Yes, mexicans like snow, specially if they live in Minnesota :D

We have three shih-tzus, two of whom were rescues. You won't regret the choice of breed, John. And, as far as foo-foo, they are a lot of dog in a little package, and are fully able to hold their own if they decide something is important enough to fight for.

I vote for Napoleon, the little emperor (especially since that'll parallel your household relationship, he'll rule the roost!)

Oh, our third we just got four days ago, rescued from a puppy mill (poor thing still doesn't understand she doesn't have to live the rest of her life in a cage and pump out pups). Hope you got him from a reputable breeder......

Yes, I was referred to the breeder initially from AKC and then I contacted a few of his other placements to make sure they were happy. All seems well so far.

We are waiting with baited breath to learn the froo-froo dog's name.
How did the kids like him? How is he adjusting?.

It was not the popular vote, but when I got to the breeder---Furby was a no brainer--so Furby he is!

Foo foo dog with a foo foo name!
