Anyone know a program that I can use to print documents to, like a PDF file, instead of having to physically print and scan documents?
I use Paper Port by Nuance. It also helps to keep everything in order.
A couple of years ago I bought a scanner that was marketed by Xerox but is actually made by Visoineer. Here's a link to info about it
but you can find it online for a lot less than the suggested retail.
The great thing is that you can just scan a bunch of papers - you can scan front and back etc. It's a workhorse!
Check out PrimoPDF (http://download.cnet.com/PrimoPDF/3000-18497_4-10264577.html). It's free.

I've been using the free program Cute PDF Writer (http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp) for a few years now.

I like PDF Creator (http://sourceforge.net/projects/pdfcreator/), myself. It emulates a printer on your computer, so to create a PDF you simply "print" the document to the PDF Creator.
It also contains many settings you can change and adjust, including the ability to set security like a password to open and etc.
I've heard good things about Primo's product too, but haven't used it myself. A lot of the free ones will display an ad while you're converting, or before you can actually convert, but the PDF Creator (and Primo, too, if I'm not mistaken) omit ads and still remain free.
