Here's the situation: I have an old desktop (running win98) that I had used for receiving faxes and then the phone situation changed and it turns out that due to various factors my system isn't recognizing distinctive ring and I can't use my fax software on it anymore. Actually I haven't been able to for 2 years now.
In that time my desktop has been sitting there gathering dust (and a lot of it). Because it's an older e-machine it's really not capable of being upgraded to a higher version of windows. It's got 192MB RAM and 10GB hard drive, seem to have a 500mhz celeron processor. So now we're thinking about turning it into a Linux box and running fax software from it that way. And I'm looking for recommendations on a good program.
My requirements are:
- recognize distinctive ring
- automatically send received faxes by email
That's about it really. Any recommendations?
