Good catch, John. Tripso hasn't changed either.

What happened...is Scott Tomer running the show now...I expect to ....

Now that is a low blow. By the way, remember Scott's Styrofoam Statue of Liberty? I have the inside story that after the Hammond, Indiana structural engineers declared that the coated styrofoam would crumble under UV daylight, and its flimsy steel supports would buckle in the wind they tried to send it back to Scott. He refused, but tried to give it away to someone else, but Charlie and Chris said "NO! - to having it as the new symbol of Tripso." :p

I don't know, the 130' chunk of degrading foam might have looked good in someone's yard? ;)

They couldn't sell it on ebay either. Last I heard they decapitated her and are awaiting someone to claim her head....

Here's the latest from Chris:

- Our site is now called Consumer Traveler (Consumertraveler.com). It describes what we do much better.

- On a personal note, I'm really pleased to welcome the forums back to our site, where they belong. I'm also happy to be working with a hassle-free theme that is coded by a professional, and does what it should. If only everything else in life were this straightforward.

-- Our forums at TalkingTravelers will be migrating to
Consumertraveler.com soon -- hopefully by day's end. There will also be some design tweaks to make it look like it's part of our site. Charlie and I will be going in and reorganizing some of the topics, with the exception of the travel agent areas. We are leaving agents to manage those.

What does reorganizing the topics mean? I honestly have absolutely no idea. I guess we'll find out when they do it.

Another domain name, huh? I didn't realize our forum was located in a trailer park. ~winking~

My guess is that they will be using an add in for WordPress, but maybe not.

On the new site, it references the forums as :
• We’ve added a new forum (http://www.talkingtravelers.com/forum/../forum), which was previously published at TalkingTravelers.com. It’s an active community of travel professionals where readers can find answers to many of their travel questions.

All of the regular members of the forum are not travel professionals

Annette

I could be wrong, but I think what was meant was that it's an active community that includes travel professionals.

I know, shocking that wording might be off.

I just logged in and the new page come up. I don't like it, but I don't like change! I had to search to find the forums. Not easy to find.

Agreed, the new consumertraveler.com site does not have an easy way to get to the forums.

Evidently it was just added - wasn't there earlier in the day.

Forget finding the forums, dear god they need to increase the font size on the articles!!

I'm not blind, but if I read too many of those, I WILL be...

It was there until they changed the url of the forums and the masthead.

L., the font size looks good to me. Would you please check it out again and let me know if it's still small. If it is I'd love to know what your display size and settings are. I have a 19" lcd monitor for my main monitor and it's running 1280x1024. My problem is the size of the page in FF with my bookmarks running on the left side. I have to scroll left-right.

Ned, it appears they switched the forums to a fixed width that was less than it was.

My forums now display about 2/3 the width of the screen (19" wide aspect) but I have also lost the ad at the bottom.

Can't remember if they allowed you to choose a fluid or fixed width, but it is not an option now.

And the fonts for the posts are decidedly smaller now. I also note that the generic avatar is missing.

And if you have any pull, ask them if I can get the SENIOR MEMBER permissions added to my profile. I was the #2 one on here! Senior Member allows more PM, larger avatar and the ability to change the title. All they need to do is access my profile and check the box under secondary user groups for senior member

John, I though L., was talking about CT, not the forums.

I agree that the forums are now a fixed width much less than before. I have about 2.5 inches of space to the right.

I don't remember the fluid/fixed option ever, but I could have ignored it.

My fonts in the forums don't seem smaller to me. I noticed the missing avatar too.

Not sure if it was there either but it is an option to allow users to select. Usually is a drop box in the lower left corner. Also allows you to choose different themes if they are set up that way

I was in fact talking about CT. It apparently was addressed and MUCH easier to read now.

But the issue (for me) of the crashing of my browser is still there. I am really thinking their ad partner (Travel Ad Network) has some funky stuff going on in their ads that is not playing nice with the forums or the site.

I think it is some of the ads or TAN. As long as I run AdBlock Plus, I have no problem with the site and no ads.
