I really seem to love the dog books, I guess, and Rescuing Sprite by Mark Levin is no exception. I took it along when I went to Rhode Island a few weeks ago for some casual reading in the airport. Instead, it kept me up at night. It was a quick read, which was a good thing because I had a hard time making myself put it down. A family adopts a companion dog for their other dog, Pepsi, and find out their new family member has a few medical problems. Rather than return Sprite to the shelter or euthanize him right away, they decide to treat him and give him a happy home. He teaches them some lessons about love in return. Sounds sappy. I cried a lot near the end, but I thought it was a really good book.
