I hope that cell phones stay off the planes -- really -- it is the last bastion of peace on some days.

The only acceptable use for cell phones on aircraft is for emergencies, like for example if you are being threatened. Then it should be utilized as in one of my favorite TV commercials - flung squarely at the head of the your attacker.
