Everyone is talking about Natalee Holloway--the teen that disappeared in Aruba. So what does everyone here think?

My opinion, the kid did it, but will walk. I imagine she is swimming with the fishes! Come on, let's stir this up a bit!

Unfortunatley , I agree. Von sDersloott (sp) killed her, but somehow pulled off the"perfect crime". But, I also think the Kalfo (sp) brothers and daddy were heavilly involved.
I am a Certified Aruba Specialist. I still think Aruba is as safe as any destinatiion can be.
We have also have incidents like this in the USA. Several German and etc tourists have been murdered in the Miami Area.

True--there are probably more murders in NYC in a day than in Aruba in a year, but to be hones, that mother is growing on me and not in a good way. It is sad and unfortunate, but this high class high dollar family sent thier spoiled kid to a foreign country to drink booze for her high school graduation. Apparently they were also planning a European trip after Aruba and before college.

So where do we get off by making a mockery of thier justice system, their investigation, etc. I think thay have done more harm than good, and those Twitty Brothers--what are their names Jug and Bug--they ought to be put back in the barn.

But this will be unresolved, I don't think they will ever find her remains. But as long as there is no other major news story Faux (oops Fox) News will continue to send Greta Van whatever to report on the same old crap day in and day out.

It is sad, but hey that's life. Time to move on folks

Yes, I also think she is dead somewhere. It bothers me that it will probably remain unsolved, I would sure like to know how the hell it was pulled off. I suspect that Dad VDS was involved with advice--he seems pretty smart.

Yes, The Parents may come off as rich and snotty, but put yourself in their position. If it were my daughter, I would be acting the same way. I happen to be friends with people in her neighborhood and I know what they are going through.

As a Leisure Travel Specialist, I will not ever do as HS Group again. This is really a mess.

I actually did my last HS Group in 1998 when one of them was arrested for trying to buy drugs from an undercover Cop in Cancun. Never again was my motto.

Does anyone think the abduction to another island theory could be true? I just find it hard to believe that this kid pulled off the perfect crime? I love the scaredmonkeys.com forum, they are all over this story. If the kid did it, even by accident, I think the father & friend cleaned up after him and it is a BIG cover up. Aruba is my favorite island, we really love it there but......I'm not ready to go back too soon.

My heart breaks for her mother & family - no matter how much money they have. Thank God they had the $$$ & contacts to persue it this far. I think if it was me, I would pull out every stop too. We scrimped to send our daughter to Europe with her class after HS graduation. I made her call us every night. You never think this could happen to you.

As heartless as I may sound, I, too, think that Natalee is with the fishes. Has been since May 30 or thereabouts. When I was in HS, we thought going to a local theme park was a senior trip. How times have changed.

Vicki,

I agree! You are from TN & I am from MD - We were lucky enough to go to our local "Gwynn Oak Park" for a few hours & took the local bus..................times have changed!

I think that maybe they had a fight and she was accidently killed.
I have also thought that there was a good possibility that they took her to Venezuela.....
Hard to say, just sad.

***When I was in HS we all looked forward going to Disneyland!!

So--what is happening down there anyow? I have not heard a lot on the news and have not caught Greta Van Susteren or Geraldo lately?

Although I did see a NBC survey that indicated of the 60,000 people polled so far that because of this Natalee Holloway deal a full 50% are inclined to avoid Aruba, 15% never planned to go, 23% say it has no effect on them, and the rest say they don't know.

How sad hwn you consider that tourism accounts for 90% of their industry, and the US provides 70% of their tourists, and half of them are avoiding the island.

I am sure glad the rest of the world is not as shortsighted as us and decides to boyott Washington DC becase a person was missing or killed.

It won't stop me from going to Aruba....I love it there - have been several times. They have very little crime there....only 2-3 murders all of last year.

I also think she is dead and long gone in the ocean.....if she was as drunk as I heard she was, she could have decided to go for a swim and drowned. The water can be rough even near the Marriot - and if she went in the water by the California lighthouse the dunes - they don't call it the wild side for nothing.

This young girl made an error in judgment in going alone with these young men. Her friends made an error by not INSISTING that she stay with the group. I think that somehow she was accidently killed (fell, drowned, too rough sex, whatever) and the boys panicked and decided to cover it up instead of calling the authorities. Yes, I believe the Dad is involved in the coverup. This is a terrible tragedy tha could have been avoided.

The mother has the most annoying voice I ever had the misfortune to listen to.
If anything their obnoxious performance on TV is bringing more attention to Aruba.
They should not expect the govt of Aruba to play nanny if they wanted to ensure their daughters safety than they should have had a responsible adult to chaperone or supervise their daughter. They were negligent as parents and now insist an entire govt cater to their every demand and you know they are going for all the lawsuits they can possibly file.

I wonder how succesful any civil suits would be in Aruba. They caertainly cannot file here in the US. And I may be wrong, but I think that most jurisdictions do not allow for a civil trial in ADDITION to a criminal one. If the Joran kid is tried and found guilty, I imagine that is all the satisfaction they will receive. If he is tried and innocent, well then how do you sue someone who was found innocent? If he is released, there is a presumption of innocence--again, how does one sue? There are no real expenses so to speak. She has a very nice room at the Holiday Inn, US Airways is shuttling them back and forth gratis, and I am sure that with the journals she is keeping, there is a HUGE book deal (or movie) deal in her future.

I have said time and time again, people need to be accountable for their own safety. People make wrong decisions all the time, and sometimes bad things happen..unfortunate but true.

This has put a whanny on tourism (or at least it is trying to), has to be devastating to the family in ALabama and the friends. SHe has been missing for over a month now, and with no signs of her I think they need to presume her dead. Mourn the loss, and try to move on with their lives and the memory of their daughter.

As for the interference (and yes I do think it is interference) of their private PI (I know it is redundant sort of like ATM Machine), the FBI, and the Holloways in general, they are impeding the investigation--no matter how bungled it may or may not be. The citizens of the US would never stand for foreign interference in any investigation. Hell, even our own agencies--local PD, state, PD, FBI, Secret Service, CIA, etc. all bicker about whose case it is and who is the lead dog.

This subject is becoming the proverbial dead horse, I think. When this first happened, I had concern and sympathy for both the girl and her family, but then the more I thought about it, the less I had. Let's face it, she went off with strangers in a strange country. Honor student or not, for anyone to do that in today's world is just plain stupidity, and I for one can't suffer fools.

Okay, let's be blunt here.

Personally, I believe that after all of this time, they're not looking for a person - they're looking for a body. A teenager would have turned up by now.

BTW: I never went on my senior trip - only the Popular kids did that. Now I'm really glad I didn't go.
