Have whoever is helping you in the U.S.A. contact the South African Embassy or a consulate. They should be able to help. Phone in Washington DC is (202) 232-4400.

Thanks for the interresting article. These days, so many people feel as though they don't need travel insurance. They think if they visit a country with free health care, they won't need insurance, but people never think about the really bad stuff. For a little over a dollar a day, they can save their families the 10-20K cost of bringing their body back. Of course it is not the kind of thing you want to think about, but if it can happen to a healthy, active 22 year old, it can happen to anyone.

by Laura Townsend Elion
Last week my son’s best friend died, in Croatia. Brandon was an experienced hiker, but fell off a mountain. He was 22.

Death is always traumatic, and usually we are unprepared for it, even when we expect it.
============================================================

I'm sorry for your loss.

Death IS traumatic. Last year, I walked around greiving for a man I didnt know for many months. I couldnt save him inflight.

Your article is a wonderful resource for a difficult situation one may think they may never encounter. It happens, it happened to me.
