When I book travel I always ask for a copy of the reservation. You would think that the client would have a copy of the reservation form from Celebrity Cruises with the break down and if they did then Celebrity would have had to honor the price.

Great article which seems to represent all sides.

My view:

1. The original agent didn't know what she was doing quoting that price. Perhaps she didn't add in the other fees, taxes, charges, or whatever, but it was a bad quote from day one. She seems to know it and is no longer in business.

2. The client should have know that the quote he had was too low when it was 1/2 the price of other quotes. He seems to want something for nothing.

3. Joystar and Celebrity seemed to do the right thing and the clients got a real good deal after all.

4. Looks like Royal Caribbean did over-react in banning Joystar. It was one bad agent not Joystar. Not sure as to the proper recourse should have been.

5 Card mills are not good for the business.

A little research should have alerted these people that they were getting a deal that does not jibe with reality. Shame on them for trying to make money on what was obviously some kind of error.

When you just collect money and don't care who you let sell or represent you, this is what you get.
Joystar and the rest of the card mills will destroy the integrity of qualified travel agents.
If it smells like duck, quacks like a duck, It's a Duck!
In this case, a RAT!

A side note about booking with agencies that represent all cruises---if you know what cruise you want, there are also some agencies that specialize in a particular line (or style). These agencies will likely have the block space, offer some greater amenities, and generally offer a better deal. After all if they are dealing with one cruise line (or only a few) a big screw up like this can put them under.
