Just returned today 4-24-09 from Ensenada to Hawaii on Carnival Spirit. You get what you pay for. The food was ho-hum mostly. The room service menu was extremely limited, and when the food arrived the bread was always soggy. We had one gentleman, Marky-Mark (sp?) who was on the first shore day very condescending/rude to us after we had 2 other employees give us wrong directions, because the directions given on our paperwork was not correct originally. Felt like asking him who he thought he was talking to, a lower ship employee? Our cabin steward Abigail was great, Bertram in the restaurant and his assist. Diana were good. Expected a lot more from this trip, will not sail Carnival again, not horrible, not good. Just SO-SO. HAL & Celebrity have my A+ for now. Trying Crystal next.

That's a great idea. Let's make cruising less profitable for the cruiselines. Let's hope that some of the lines close down due to no profit. Let's hope that with less ships to cruise on the lines will raise their rates due to supply and demand. Let's hope because we don't want to buy a $10.00 drink today, we won't be able to afford a cruise in the future.

I have never been on a cruise that has forced me to buy a drink or a photo, or to dine in any specialty restaurant. I have still never had a bad cruise after cruising 10 times

I would like for Mr. Roberts to explain who exactly who claimed that his cruise would be all-inclusive. I find that some people today are so desperate, they see and hear what they want. I would hope he didn't book this through a travel agent. Let me expand on "travel agent". I'm really talking about a certified professional travel agent and a CLIA (Cruise Line International Association) certified cruise consultant. As one, I know that all costs and fees are clearly available and spelled out by the cruise lines. Attitude affects everything we do. My attitude is if you going to be a moaning and groaning passenger - complainer....Stay home. I don't appreciate fellow passengers who seem to have a mission in life complaining about everything and ruining other passengers vacation. Again....Stay home and save your money.
Regarding Revenge...Is a cruise supposed to be a war or a vacation.

You're comment of Carnival's “early saver” fare did not mention the fact that the 3 month advance deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE, a fact that discouraged us from considering this option. Would purchasing insurance cover this? Maybe, but we are reluctant to pay for insurance (even though it is a good practice) just to get our deposit back if we change our mind or find a better deal thru a TA.

The nickle and diming is interesting with CCL and NCL among the woest offenders - sure, lower the stateroom price (fare) to make it very, very attractive and charge little fees that add up for just about everything! I don't think RCL's steak and room service fees are that egregious really. I would note that RCL, CEL, HAL and Princess seem to do less nickle and diming but then their cruise fares are more realistic than the other two.
