<description>I had the same thing happen to me on a flight at Christmas. My original flight from Santa Barbara to Salt Lake City was cancelled and we were taken to LAX and I was put on standby for a flight to Boise (my original ultimate destination via SLC). I was lucky and got the last seat on the plane and when I got to the last row of the plane where my seat was I found this man who was taking up 3/4 of the two seats. He was not thrilled about sharing the seat with me but I refused to get off the plane. The flight attendant apologized but offered nothing else. She gave him a seat belt extender and I crawled into my window seat and then he sat down and squished me up into the window and wall of the plane. It was extremely uncomfortable for me and him. Luckily he was one hell of a nice guy and we laughed and talked all the way to Boise (almost 2 hour flight). I thought of complaining but I was so thankful to make it to Boise on Christmas Eve that I did not. Perhaps next time I will. It really is horrible for the airline to do that kind of thing to the large travelers and also to those of us who have to share their two seats with them. Thanks for the article, it definitely made me think about this situation again. I may just write to Delta for the sake of letting them know that we travelers are not happy with this kind of thing.
