My mother had a variation on this problem with Orbitz, USAirways, and Iberia this past summer. She had an e-ticket which was not honored by Iberia during her return. Her documentation showed her trip with all of the segments intact. She was forced to buy a ticket for the Iberia portion of her return trip. None of the parties involved is taking any responsibility.

Christopher gets a gold star for writing a perfectly worded piece and getting Mr. Morales' money back. As my old boss used to say "You get to go home five minutes early."

I have to ask why Mr. Morales had a paper ticket in the first place since every airline is supposed to be using nothing but e-tickets now, at least according to all the press releases from IATA.

The next question is why is okay for Expedia to take his money and charge a fee for services and then wash their hands of him by saying that it is up to him to resolve the issue. If my travel agent did that to me, well, first, they wouldn't be my travel agent anymore and second I would raise such a stink that they wouldn't be a lot of people's travel agent anymore.

And people wonder why I stick with a real, live professional travel agent who I have a personal relationship with rather than booking online.
