There are travel journals telling what to know before you go,what to see and what to do. Some journals show the author, quitting his job, selling his house, and putting his kids in storage while he travels the world as a nomad im search of adventure. I have taken the need for adventure from a different angle-the working stiff. I have worked in the corporate world for 23 years and yet had found the time and ability to lead a life of adventure, rather than an existance. I have written about my journeys in the book, "Don't Quit Your Day Job: Adventures For The Working Stiff." From adventures in your own "backyard" to worldwide adventures, amone can live their "Indiana Jones" dream.

One should seriously take consideration on the idea of getting some information about the place where you are going for the vacation. Some people get disappointed of such a vacation because it is not well planned, probably because there is not much beautiful spots to check out or something like that.

I have to disagree with the "don't take long flights" idea. With the way airlines are now, flying trans-oceanic is less expensive than in-state. For instance, a flight from Rochester to Dulles cost only $50 less than a Rochester - Frankfurt flight WITH a stop in Dulles. When in Asia recently, the flight from Bangkok to Hanoi was more expensive than my flight from LA to Bangkok -- and I got food on that flight!
