I for one have severe allergies (not to animals though), and instead of "sneezing" I break out in rashes. Furthermore, what about the smells? I have several dogs and not one can go without going outside for 14+ hours -- unlike people, they can't get up and use the facilities. Further, some animals just plain stink...Personally, I think it creates the potential for an extremely obnoxious environment. Just because you haven’t met people on the plane with allergies (or they haven’t made themselves known) doesn’t mean they aren’t suffering. The carrier (Qantas) has an excellent reputation for its treatment of animals. I think if I had to transport animals within the US, I'd use a pet courier service or drive them myself. My Kitty is staying put unless I am going to be in one place for a minimum of two months. Great revenue source but with all of the required medical tests, she costs far more to transport than a baby. Kitty doesn't cry much less ask for a meal. She sleeps for the entire trip. I don't mind paying for her to sit in the cabin. I do mind be gouged and she doesn't accumulate air miles.
