You better believe it!
I sat down last night to see how much a five-day Thanksgiving trip to San Francisco (from Seattle) for a family of four would cost. I fully expected to find that the total cost was prohibitively expensive.
Instead I found:
- decent prices on flights (~$300/each). A little higher than non-holiday, but still OK (and it is, after all, a holiday weekend).
- a killer deal on a hotel in downtown SFO. In SoMa, but I didn't want to stay in Fisherman's Wharf anyway and I'm OK with taking public transit around town.
Budget: $1600. Cost: $1800. Decided to go for it.
I agree, people seem to be choosing to stay at home and this is having downward pressure on airfare and hotel rates.

Expedia says in certain markets, prices are dropping precipitously. Fall fares between Denver and San Francisco are down 32 percent and those between Denver and San Diego are down 30 percent.
===================================================

I think this has more to do with Frontier in Bankruptcy and Southwest taking predatory actions in Denver. Not capacity issues.
