While I agree with most that the airlines as a whole are incredibly hard to deal with, why do we hold them to a higher standard than other similar businesses we deal with?

I do not like nor do I enjoy the current TSA screening procedures. But I think they are the best available option that the TSA has at present to protect the flying public.

Global Entry is a preferred traveler program for people considered low risk by Customs and Border Patrol (CBP). Members of the program are granted “expedited entry” into the US (government speak for you get to skip all of the lines) in exchange for submitting to a background investigation and interview.

Pro-airline researchers produced shows that cancellations for May, due to the new regulations, were 3 times the number of cancellations DOT predicted for the entire year. They go on to argue that their analysis doesn’t include second order cancellations.

My wife makes fun of me because the morning of any flight I’m going to take I check at least three forecasts. First, know what your weather forecast about the time you are scheduled to take off. Second, check your arrival city about the time you are scheduled to land. Finally, check the weather at any connecting airports.

This has been an interesting week for those trying to get to Europe with little or no information easily found. The volcanic ash is still affecting flights.

To paraphrase one of the great horror movies from the 80s … “It’s baaaack!” After a short respite, the Icelandic volcano is again affecting flights into and out of Europe.
